About

Ella Bennett is a multiple award winning Director and Screenwriter who isn’t afraid to explore the taboo.

Ella’s personal style is often described to her as ‘timeless with a docu feel’ and she thinks this is because she tends to be drawn to stories which ground itself in social realism with a heightened sense of reality.

Completing a BA Hons Degree in two years instead of three whilst at Ravensbourne didn’t give Ella much time to create, but what it did do is leave her with a First Class Honours Degree, a Vice U.K mentorship and a PA position at BBC Comedy.

Ella’s undergraduate short ‘LAST LEG’ won ‘Best Short Film’ at both London Film Festival and Latimer Talks Shorts Competition, broadcasted on London Live twice and toured the film festival circuit globally.

Ella is incredibly passionate about improving the current state of representation & inclusion and has Taught at; Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Buckinghamshire New University and Met Film School.

Ella has also founded a platform called ‘The Main In Stream Is Dead’ where she creates educational tools for emerging talent whilst also offering free mentorships for young filmmakers.

Ella is enthralled by the Horror genre and is currently developing work in the Psychological Drama, Thriller and Horror sphere.

Ella’s work has featured on: Complex U.K, Google U.K, Screenspace, London Live, SUBTV, Kyra TV, Screendaily and Film London to name a few.
